Easter Ideas-
Every year since Mason was 2, I have hosted an Easter Party
for some of my friends and their little kids.
We love to celebrate Easter and take time to reflect on the time of year
that is really most important for Christians.
I love to research and find ways that I can imprint Gods story into the
hearts and minds of our boys. Here are
some things I’ve uncovered and hope to use.
Today we made Salt Dough ornaments, they are baking
now. We started with the Birth of Jesus,
made some of his miracles…Micah said some of his favorite ones are when Jesus
turned the water to wine, when He healed a blind man, when he used a boys lunch
to feed 5,000 people and when he calmed a big storm…so those are the ones we
made…we then made one to represent palm Sunday, good Friday and then one with
clouds and a dove to remind us that Jesus is preparing a place for us and he
has given us his holy spirit to GO into all the world and make disciples.
We made toilet paper roll characters to tell the story with.
(like our nativity set at Christmas time)
I printed off some decorations, similar to the ones found in
the resurrection eggs we made to hang from the fire place as decorations.
Here’s a collection of ideas for our Easter Party this year.
Use a rabbit picture, a stuffed bunny or even a real one
(if you are adventurous) to teach some of the characteristics of Jesus that we
should all try to have. By adding a Bible verse to each quality, you will
create a true Easter Bunny.
Real Easter bunnies:
•
are white as snow because Jesus takes all
sin away (Isaiah 1:18b).
•
are gentle, kind-hearted and forgiving
(Ephesians 4:32).
•
have big ears that are quick to listen (James
1:19).
•
have big eyes to look carefully and choose what
is good (1 Thessalonians 5:21).
•
have no voice for complaining or arguing
(Philippians 2:13).
•
are quiet in prayer, but hop with
thanksgiving and rejoicing (Philippians 4:4-6).
•
have big feet to go tell others about Jesus so
they can be like Easter bunnies, too (Matthew 28: 19-20).
eat what is healthy by filling up on God's
word every day (Psalm 119:11).
White Carnations and red dye….Carnation is white like the pure
spotless lamb of God for us….as the flower sits in the red dyed water it will
soon take on all of our “red sin” just as Christ did that for us on the cross.
Rock Hunt Ezekiel 36:26 …26"Moreover, I
will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove
the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27"I will put My
Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful
to observe My ordinances. 28"You will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers;
so you will be My people, and I will be your God.…
Hunt
for rocks bring them back, write sins on them, pray and ask for forgiveness
then throw the rocks as far away as you can……18Who is a
God like You, who pardons iniquity And passes over the rebellious act of the
remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He
delights in unchanging love. 19He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our
iniquities under foot. Yes, You will cast all their sins Into the depths of the
sea. 20You will give truth to Jacob And unchanging love to Abraham,
Which You swore to our forefathers From the days of old.
